Braces are typically worn for about two years depending on the amount of corrections that need to take place. With all three main types a metal wire or elastic band goes through brackets which are bonded to the teeth. Since the braces are consistently correcting the position of the teeth regular follow up visits are made to an orthodontics dentist or orthodontist in order for adjustments to be made.
